My fees are similar to the rates survey results at the Editorial Freelance Association (EFA).
The EFA calculates service totals by five pages (1250 words). For developmental editing (fiction and nonfiction), the rate is one page (250 words) per hour.
Editorial Assessment

I will read your manuscript once to understand and appreciate it for what it is, then analyze and take notes to help me write an editorial letter that includes my feedback and suggestions.
Fiction - I will look for plot holes, structure, characterization, pacing, setting, point of view, and themes for fiction and creative nonfiction.
Academic Essays - I analyze the topic, structure, thesis, consistency, argument, commentary, and citations. Please provide me with the prompt and all reading material you want to incorporate into the essay.
Beta Reading

I will read your manuscript only once, provide an editorial letter with no marginal comments (unless specified), and give you a quicker turnaround. I will essentially act like a regular reader, noting my likes, dislikes, and things other readers might find confusing.
Sensitivity Reading - Are you a non-Black American woman writer who features Black American women characters in your manuscript and are unsure if they’re represented well?
With this service, I will specifically read for narratives of Black Americans and women's experiences to ensure you aren’t upholding problematic stereotypes and help you develop more accurate representations.

OUTLINE COACHING
With this service, I will help you draft an outline to guide your writing and provide structure.
Fiction - I request any notes you may have, including maps, chapter and scene summaries, character descriptions and drawings, and any other information you believe is necessary for me to fully understand your vision.
Academic Essays - Please provide me with the prompt, your argument, and all reading material you want to incorporate into the essay. We will outline paragraph by paragraph, sentence by sentence.
CONSULTING
This is an add-on service for those who need someone to discuss their ideas with, perhaps for greater clarity on outlining their approach or my editorial letter.
Ghostwriting

Do you have an idea but don't know how to describe it? Or are there particular scenes that aren't coming together?
With this service, I will do my best to put your ideas into words and write them for you. Please provide me with all your notes and what you have written for the manuscript. I will only write a portion (scenes or a chapter) of the manuscript, not the entirety.

Query Letters
Ready to publish and connect with publishers and literary agents?
I will write a letter that you can send to publishing houses or literary agents, explaining why they should publish your work.
For those I have not worked with, I will need an excerpt or a summary of your manuscript in order to complete this project.
